Exhibition buzzes with creativity

Russley Events

The constant aroma of delicious coffee on the busiest ever day at Abode Cafe was a tell-tale sign that a very successful event was taking place at The Russley Village last weekend. It was the highly-anticipated Arts Canterbury Exhibition.

A bustling environment, exquisite art, and happy patrons were also signs that the exhibition did not fail to deliver. Committed to profiling art galleries and artists in Christchurch and surrounding districts, Arts Canterbury supports artists in Canterbury to display and exhibit their art, with an ultimate goal of fostering appreciation of the visual arts in Canterbury.

On Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 March, from 10am-3pm, The Russley Village offered a sophisticated backdrop for an iconic Arts Canterbury cash and carry event thanks to its elegant country estate setting.

From paintings and sculptures to ceramics and jewellery to bookmarks and cards, the extensive collection impressed and inspired. Art connoisseurs and lovers were able to purchase their desired investment on the spot.

The Russley Village Manager Wayne Thompson says of the successful event, “We were thrilled to partner with Arts Canterbury which plays an integral role in fostering the arts in our wider community.

“The Arts Canterbury Committee and artists loved the venue and the space worked well. We saw lots of familiar and new faces all weekend and delighted in people’s positive experience and purchases. We are already looking forward to a future event.”
